I went to wordpress! lol I know I know I'm a traitor but it really came down to who has a free app that works on my iTouch and it's Wordpress. I have not found a decent FREE app that actually works for this site. The one I downloaded last week, just to try, let me write but would not let me publish. So if blogger comes out with an app and its free and it actually works, I may start using this blog again but I don't see that happening since Google and Apple currently aren't playing nice with each other.
So that is where I am. You can continue to follow me there :-)

Goals & mini Goals
So I have no idea how I am doing this month so far because I REFUSE to step on a scale until the end of the month and I intend to make that a rule for myself. You can get so obsessed with stepping on the scale to see where you stress yourself out because you think you won't make if you aren't at a certain weight at a certain time and I will not do that anymore. I'm trying to pay attention to the things that I've done in the past that have sabotaged my progress and that would be one of them.
So I've started listening the the "2 Fit Chicks & a Microphone" (TwoFitChicks.org) podcast and absolutely love it! I saw a clip of when Shauna aka DietGirl was on the Early Show and that's what led me to her and MizFit's podcast which in turn led to me making an effort to keep consistent with my blog. They are awesome and hilarious and I hope you check out their blogs and podcast because you can really pick up some good advice as well as commiserate with their experiences no matter where you are in your weight loss / fitness goals. SO back to what I was going to say; I've been listening to their podcast and it got me to thinking about my goals and how I need to set them so that I can achieve them for real this time. Like I stated in my last post I plan on doing mini goals which in turn will result in my bog goals being accomplished. So below are my goals as well as how I plan to reward myself for certain check points and I will have the pictures of the shirt and the dress posted as soon as my husband gets back in town and can hold a camera to take a picture of me. with this post. (Turns out my phone has a pretty decent lens and a self timer, my last phone didn't have either.)
So yeah, lose 12 lbs a month is a mini goal for my HUGE goal of losing 144 lbs, but each of those 12 months is a big goal in their own right. I don't have a reward for every month YET because I couldn't think of anything else other than what I have listed. If you can think of something or when I do think of something, I will update this.
And here are the dreaded pictures. For decency sake (and so that you could see where the dress ends because you couldn't see that when I had my jeans on) I put on my pajama bottoms before I took the picture.
While the orange dress is buttoned, I'm sure if I sneezed or took a deep breath I'd put someone's eye out (mine!) with the velocity of the buttons flying off!

And "the dress"...I loved this dress. It really is cute when I can fit it. I wore it only once before it didn't fit at all, and even then it was kinda hoochified when I sat down.
So there you have it. My clothes that don't fit and my goals and plans to get me to the point where these two items will be falling off of me. It is after midnight now and I should have been sleep HOURS ago. Have a great day everyone. Chat with you next week sometime!

Losing it!
Ok so here's the plan. I need to get down to my "ideal" weight for my height. So here I come single digit body! Haha!! Something I said I would never be... Anyhow, I have to do this, not only because I hate the way I look in most of clothes, but mainly because of my health. I was diagnosed with a condition called idiopathic intracranial hypertension, or IIH for short. In a nut shell it means I produce spinal fluid faster than my body can drain it and it in turn puts pressure on my brain and causes nasty migraines and weird things to happen with my vision sometimes. So what does this have to do with my weight? Well apparently this condition can get better the closer you are to an ideal weight for your height and since all the medications they treat it with made me horribly sick, I guess there's no time like the present to acheive a goal I've been putting off forever. And really I haven't been putting it off, I just haven't done a great job in actively working towards it. That's over, no more excuses, time make a goal and stick to it. Ok so back to my plan, I need to get down to somewhere between 135-150 lbs. So far I've list a little over 15 pounds. I started at 298 and now I'm 282. I told myself I had to make it through the first month and then start my blog, because I had to shoe myself I could do it without someone cheering my on. 12 pounds a month for the next 12 months and I will be an incredibly tiny 138. Even now that doesn't seem realistic, but it will be. I'm just going to take it 12 pounds at a time and set incentives for myself. I have a black dress that I've only worn once and an orange shirt that I never got a chance to wear that I will try on every month and post pictures wearing them. I'll create another post soon with my goals, or graphic or something that will show my goals and progress so far and what I get when I reach mini goals. So I look gorward to using this blog as my outlet of my triumphs and dissapointments during this and as look forward to meeting those who will come across this blog and enjoy my ongoing dribble. Well that is all for now, it is 3 am and I have to get the kids up and ready for school at 6! Good...morning.

Best Thing I've Done With a Tax Refund
This year when I got my tax refund I did the usual things, paid some bills, saved some, bought clothes for the kids, stuff like that. The other thing I usually do is buy something nice for myself or my husband, and this year we got our money a month before our 6 month anniversary so I decided I was going to get my husband something he's always wanted. Now that could have been another fishing trip, a Toyota Tundra, down payment on a trip to Alaska, or a Jack Russell Terrier. Trust me when I say the dog was the last likely present. He originally told me he wanted a pure breed with papers and all that, so I started looking around and those dogs are expensive!!! I've always adopted or been given the dogs I've had and paying 600 - 1200 for ONE dog is just ridiculous. So I went back to how I have obtained dogs in the past and started looking for JRTs up for adoption.

The first dog we almost brought home was a sweet girl named Trixie, she was a 4 month old JRT/Lab mix and she had my husbands heart from the first picture. Sadly though we never got to bring her home, because like in so many shelters, adequate health care wasn't available and she went from a lovable, curious, sweetheart to a very sick puppy in 2 days and didn't make it through the night. It broke our hearts and when the virus finished at the shelter only two dogs survived.
We waited a little while and started our search again, this time I found two adorable puppies at the Coastal Jack Russell Rescue in Santee, SC; 4 month old Colt and 6 month old Chloe. Colt looks a lot like Trixie (pictured here) and Chloe actually looks like a JRT, she just has black spots instead of brown.
Over the past month they have become a part of our family and I don't think I could have done any better with my refund. They have a home now, they have a regular vet, the best food for them, and a 3 & 4 yr old human brother and sister that couldn't be happier to have them. Even though we live in an apartment, they get to run like crazy a couple times a week at the local dog park and they're also part of my exercise routine. they need exercise to behave and I want them to behave, so once or twice a week we go for a 2 mile walk around the lake by us. A low tech addition to my workouts, but I still use my shoes and iPod so there's some technology involved. All of the dogs I found were through the site petfinder.com . Almost any type of pet you're looking for they probably have them listed. They're a collection of listings from animals shelters, rescues, and humane societies across the country. Not all animals are in no kill shelters, a lot are in pounds where they only have a short time before they'll be put down if no one adopts them. To buy a pure breed you can spend hundreds if not thousands on a single pure bred animal, but you can take that same kind of money and adopt one and get it all the care it needs and all the toys and treats you need to spoil them and in the end you'll probably feel luckier than them to have them in your home.
